Dear parents,
Thank you all for all your support during this challenging but interesting year. This year we managed to quickly adapt to the pandemic crisis and successfully continue our lessons.
Given that social distancing will continue to be required, the Greek School of Coventry has decided there will be no face-to-face lessons during the next September 2020.
We have already started to plan to physically open the school in October if official advice on Covid-19 changes.
However, returning to school in person needs careful steps in place to keep our students and teachers safe.
These include hand hygiene, physical guides, such as tape, on floors or sidewalks to create one-way routes, limiting the size of groups participating in playground time, cleaning practices and disinfection.
Also, Classes will be separated into different hours that don’t mix with other classes throughout the day.
Unfortunately, given the current circumstances, there will be no lessons for Reception Class for the next academic year.
I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for your understanding, patience and continuous support in this effort!
First of all, I would like to thank every single member of our superb teaching staff for all their dedication, inspiration and hard work throughout this school year. We have all worked hard to continue to build on our ‘Outstanding’ status via alternative teaching means.
I would also like to thank all the families who continuously support and guide our children to reach their highest potential.
This year we say farewell to Year 3 teacher, Maria Jacovou and Year 5/6 teacher Giannis Kefalas. We thank them for their hard work, dedication to the school values and commitment to the students. We wish them every success for the future.
I would also like to take the opportunity and convey our heartfelt appreciation to our wonderful Teacher, Maria Jacovou for her priceless efforts, hard work, understanding, support, guidance and contribution towards our students’ progress the last 8 years. Her dedication and patience enabled our students to receive positive educational experiences in our school. She made a difference in our school’s life. We will always be grateful to have had you for a teacher. We will miss you!
Lastly, I would like to thank our School Coordinator, Mr Andrew Papageorgi, who has been continuously and whole-heartedly supporting us all these years. Similarly, many thanks to the school and church committee for their commitment to the school’s success and continuity.
On behalf of the Greek School of Coventry, I would like to wish to all of you a nice summer vacation, filled with fun and joy! I wish everyone an enjoyable summer and hope that wherever you may travel, you stay safe and healthy.
See you all – virtually – on the 12th of September 2020.
Kind regards
Eleni Tsilipira
