“National Commemoration of 28th of October 1940”

October 22, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

“Hence you will not say that Greeks fight like heroes but that heroes fight like Greeks”
Winston Churchill
Dear all,

On the morning of October 28, Ioannis Metaxas addressed the Greek people over the radio. His proclamation was: “The moment has come that we will fight for the independence of Greece, its integrity and its honour.

“OHI day” is more than an anniversary commemorated with school celebrations and parades. It is a day to remember our values, our human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as the deeds of our ancestors. It is a day to remember that Greece said NO to fascism. We remember democracy, our inheritance, transferring this message to the rest of the world.

Our students will narrate the shocking events of the Italian attack and German invasion that marked our country in the years 1940-1945 on Sunday, October 22nd 2017 at 13:00pm (straight after Church Service).

Where?
Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Transfiguration, Coventry

We look forward to seeing you all then!

Best regards
The students & teachers of the school
