28H ΟΚΤΩΒΡΙΟΥ 1940
“ΗΜΕΡΑ ΜΝΗΜΗΣ-ΗΜΕΡΑ ΣΚΕΨΗΣ”
‘We are going to defend the honor of our country. If we will cede territory, it is not going to be given by us – it will be taken by force.”
28th October 1940 – The Day Greece said a Loud NO to Mussolini and the 2nd World War Took a Different Turn.
28th October 1940 – A day to remember Greek values and the courageous words and deeds of our ancestors, who fought for our country, giving their lives.
That simple but determined OXI was symbolic and significant. It represented the sentiments and principles of the entire Greek people. This word marked the beginning of Greece’s involvement in the Second World War, an involvement which was to cost Greece dearly, from every point of view.
Our students will pay tribute to Greek resistance, to those noble men and women who fought and died so that today we can be free on Sunday, 21st of October 2018 at 13:00 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Transfiguration, immediately after the Liturgy.
We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
Kind regards
